Stainless Steel Door Barrier – We believe in supporting Local Businesses
April 23, 2018
Local Builder buys Stainless Steel Door Barrier from ASG
I am definitely a firm believer in using local businesses, and this is in all aspects of my life whether it being buying veg from our local farmers markets or walking in to my local town Cleckheaton to purchase gifts from independent shops; Lilly Vanilla & Peppermint Pig to name a few, it makes me feel like I’m helping people in our community grow, expand or live there dreams. It’s a fact that spending within your local community will inevitably boost your local economy. So it really is lovely when us here at ASG get enquiries from local tradesman wanting us to carry out some work for them, especially when they have come to us because we are local to them.
Back in February we received an enquiry a Stainless Steel Door Barrier from a delightful builder called David Herrick who had just finished building some beautiful houses in Wakefield, we surveyed the site and designed a simple door barrier with an infill glass barrier and stair return rail with advice from the customer. David was really happy with the drawing and was eager for us to commence manufacture.
We began manufacturing the Stainless Door Barriers straight away and in no time we were ready to fit them in Grange Moor. Unfortunately the Beast from the East paid us several visits and our fitting schedule was delayed a few weeks. David of course was extremely understanding and wasn’t in a huge rush to have them fitted.
By Mid March we were on site ready to fit, despite all weather issues we had faced previously our little barrier went up without a hitch.
David was lovely enough to send me some pictures of the finished result, this was so kind of him to do as we rarely get to see any of domestic projects especially if we have only supplied the products. I absolutely love the stainless rails against house it really compliments the white Yorkshire stone.
Specification – 48.3mm x 2.0mm Stainless Steel Tube completed with Q-Railing Components and 10mm Toughened Glass Panels. We always use Stainless Tube that is purchased from Italy as we believe the quality is far superior to the Chinese tube.
All Components & Tube seen below are available to purchase on our online shop – simply click the link below http://shop.asgfabrications.com/
Light it Up… Q-Lights Stainless Handrailing System’s
April 4, 2018
I absolutely love being part of local projects, it pleases me so much to be able to bring customer ideas to life. And this is exactly what we did for one of my most favourite customers was eager to have a stainless handrail system fitted, that had a slight twist. Lucky for him we had just the thing our Q-Light Stainless Handrailing.
Back in November 2014, yes many moons ago, I had the pleasure of speaking to a lovely gentleman called Mr O’Hare. He was wanting a system for up and around his home in Yorkshire that could be used as a handrail to guide him and his wife up there beautiful front path but also something that could light up there way during the winter months. I knew straight away our Q-Lights hand railing system would be perfect for them.
We spoke back and forth for many weeks to come, I priced and designed for him (with a little help from the CAD Team) a very simplistic modern post and rail system as we wanted the lights to do all the talking.
Come Mid 2015, Mr O’Hare placed the order for his new Hand Railing and we set to work manufacturing his rails. As this was the first job we had manufactured incorporating the Q-Lights System I went over the job with a fine tooth comb at least 20 times. We sent across the drawings to the O’Hare family for approval and I could tell they were just as excited as me to commence fitting.
From start to finish this job ran like clockwork and the final result as you can see for yourself above was beautiful, even better than I first imagined.

October 2015 – ASG have successfully achieved ISO 9001:2008 Quality Certification
December 18, 2015
We’re really excited to announce that ASG have achieved ISO9001:2008 Quality Certification, this coupled with our success in August 2014 by gaining the CE Mark Accreditation – Execution Class 2 underpins the stability and future growth of the business.
For the last 2 years our key focus has been on achieving the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard and in September this year we received final confirmation from the Global Group – Management System Experts (UKAS approved Management Systems) that we had been successful following August’s Stage 2 Audit.
Brief – ISO 9001
The ISO 9001 standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.
ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.
The standard sets out the following 6 main areas which companies must comply with before gaining certification;
- Quality Policy and Quality Objectives
- Customer focus
- Management Commitment
- Process Approach and tour of business premises
- Internal Audit
- Management Review
What ISO means to ASG and our Customers
Our company procedures are process driven to ensure the streamlined and effective approach is relevant to our business whilst improving quality and efficiency across the whole business, not only on our products and services but our employee’s as well.
The aim is to continually improve the systems we have in place to ensure that all of our clients receive Quality Products and Services from ASG and in turn giving them confidence that we will deliver on Quality.
Sarah Heald – Business Development Director says “It has always been at the forefront of our minds that the processes and procedures we have in place reflect what we do on a daily basis and not just a Quality Management System Gathering dust on a shelf. Working with a cross section of departments throughout the business has ensured that the improved processes and procedures are meaningful and relevant to each individual no matter what department they work in.”

ASG Grows Domestic Market For Stainless Components
September 9, 2014
ASG’s ambitious growth plan is being further cemented with a huge amount of interest from the domestic market following the launch of the ebay pop-up shop, ASG Stainless Components in May 2013. Being a versatile company with knowledgeable and helpful employees really sets ASG apart. This gives each customer the best possible service by adding that personal touch which many customers need, giving them peace of mind when buying online.
Follow the link to take a look at all the products on offer http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Asg-Stainless-Components?_rdc=1
A great example of that personal touch;
One Friday afternoon a member of our sales team (Tiffany Johnson) received a phone call from a lady called Dawn Squires who lives in Barnsley enquiring about items listed on ASG’s ebay shop, she required stainless steel glass clamps to complete a project she was working on in her garden. After speaking to Dawn for quite sometime Tiffany learned that the project was in remembrance of her husband Martyn Squires who sadly passed away a couple of years ago. Martyn was a landscape gardener and had originally designed and fitted their patio, unfortunately the old stone wall collapsed (see picture 1) and that is when Dawn had the idea of replacing the old garden with something her Husband would have loved and also something he would have done if he were here.
Dawn ordered the glass clamps over the phone and was in touch via email with Tiffany regularly keeping her up to date on the progression of the garden. Once Dawn’s specially made wooden posts had been installed and the glass clamps were attached she placed the order for glass panels to complete the project.
ASG supplied grade 316 flat back glass clamp and 10mm toughened glass panels to sit between 7 no. oak square posts. Dawn squires was over the moon with the products she received. Tiffany says “ I found it heart-warming after talking to Dawn and hearing her story”, she also added “I feel honoured that I was able to be part of creating such a wonderful memory, it makes me happy to know that Dawn and her family will always have a part of Martyn with them every day”
ASG Achieves CE Mark – Execution Class 2
September 8, 2014
We can proudly announce that we have now received the SCCS Weld Certificate and Factory Production Control Certificate confirming ASG’s compliance and effective implementation of the Management System in accordance with the requirements of BS EN1090-1:2009, this falls in line with the new legal obligation that all fabricated structural steelwork is CE Marked.
Brief – CE Mark
The aim of BS EN 1090 is to ensure that clients and main contractors are given the confidence throughout the supply chain of steel construction right from the manufacture of the steel sections, to fabrication and erection on site.
BE EN 1090 is the follow up from the CE Marking of all products used across the construction industry, which was introduced and mandatory for products used after 1st July 2013.
Steelwork has been divided into four categories for certification and a steelwork contractor may not produce steel in a higher category than it is certified. The categories are:
Execution Class 1 – Farm Buildings
Execution Class 2 – Buildings
Execution Class 3 – Bridges
Execution Class 4 – Special structures (e.g. Power Stations)
What CE Mark means to ASG?
Although we were already working to the National Structural Steelwork Specification the written procedures which formulate CE Mark BSEN 1090 now help us demonstrate this to our clients.
A large part of the process was to ensure that we had written Weld Procedures signed off by a responsible weld coordinator. These Weld Procedures were written, test pieces were welded by our competent fabricators following the procedures set in place by the RWC, each piece was then tested to destruction by Lloyds testing house to ensure the welds met the requirement of the written weld procedures.
To ensure we are sending out quality fabricated products, quality checks take place on products manufactured for each project meeting our quality standards in line with our Factory Production Control System.
Each department plays a vital role to ensure ASG conforms to the processes and procedures set out; from saving mill certs & purchase orders for steel within individual client project files allowing full traceability, producing cutting & bolt lists, completing manufacture handover sheets, ensuring the welding and measuring equipment we use are calibrated and importantly our fabricator welders are skilled and tested to comply with the weld procedures.
Adrian Johnson – Managing Director says “CE Mark reinforces our confidence that when our clients request evidence that we are working to our Factory Production Control System we will have the relevant information at the click of a button in the relevant project file!”
We have already seen a large number of both new and existing customers request that their suppliers must have CE Mark. A number of small to medium sized fabrication companies have chosen not to invest their time and money into gaining the certification, which means that it is illegal for them to supply & manufacture fabricated steelwork.
Being 1 of 307 fabricators who have gained the SCCS Factory Production Control and Welding Certificate, we feel is a great achievement for the stability and future growth of the company.
